The 2024 Egyptian Finswimming Championships took place in Cairo from October 18th to October 27th, showcasing impressive performances across various age groups and categories. Held under the auspices of the Egyptian Diving & Lifesaving Federation, the competition brought together both elite and emerging finswimmers to compete in a series of intense races, providing a platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills and set new records in long-course meter events.
This year’s championship saw outstanding performances, particularly from young athletes in categories ranging from the junior to senior levels. Girls in the 10-11 age group competed fiercely in events such as the 50 and 100-meter Bi-Fin (BF) races.
The 100-meter BF event also highlighted emerging talents. Hayah Abdo Awad from Stad Youth won the race with a time of 55.28 seconds, signaling a promising future for young Egyptian finswimmers. Enppi’s Lucinda Ramadan was another standout in the junior categories, especially in the 50 and 100-meter Surface (SF) events, with times of 22.15 seconds and 48.87 seconds, respectively, in the 50 and 100 LC Meter SF, establishing her as a strong contender for future national and international competitions.
Among older competitors, races in the 200-meter Immersion and 400-meter BF events showcased the endurance and skill of Egypt’s top finswimmers. The senior categories witnessed close contests, with fractions of a second determining winners. Veteran athletes from well-established teams, such as ElMasry Port Said and Wadi Degla, consistently performed well across these longer distances, reaffirming their status as leading teams in the Egyptian finswimming scene.
In addition to individual achievements, the team standings underscored the depth of talent across Egypt. Clubs such as Nasr Club, Elethad Elskandry Club, and Enppi had significant podium finishes, contributing to the vibrant competitive atmosphere. The diverse representation in the finals also highlights the growing popularity of finswimming across the nation, with athletes from Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, and other cities taking part.
The event was also a platform for young talents to earn points for future national selection, with their performances here potentially leading to participation in international events. Not only did this competition serve as a qualifying round for future championships, but it also helped young athletes gain valuable experience in a high-stakes environment.
The Egyptian Finswimming Championships 2024 was a testament to the country’s dedication to fostering young talent and promoting the sport.
