The 21st Japan Student Finswimming Championships will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Chiba Prefectural International Swimming Center. This event, recognized and organized by the Japan Underwater Sports Federation, is a critical platform to encourage interaction among university finswimming clubs and foster student athletes.
Event Highlights
- Location: Main pool of the Chiba Prefectural International Swimming Center (50m x 8 lanes).
- Purpose: To promote student club exchanges and develop finswimming talent.
- Recognition: Officially acknowledged by the Japan Underwater Sports Federation, with the results serving as reference for international competition selection in 2025.
Competition Details
- Categories and Rules:
- Competitions will follow CMAS (World Underwater Federation) and Japanese domestic rules.
- Events are separated by gender, with time-trial finals determining winners.
- Athletes may participate in up to three individual events, and universities can field one relay team per gender.
- Open relays will allow mixed teams from different universities and will be conducted with male and female participants simultaneously.
- Event Lineup:
- Relays: 4x50m CMAS Bifin Relay, 4x50m Surface Relay, and 4x50m Surface Open Relay.
- Individual Events: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m Surface; 50m Apnea; and 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m CMAS Bifin.
Eligibility Criteria
- Participants must be university or graduate students registered with the Japan Underwater Sports Federation as of 2024.
- Health clearance and sufficient swimming proficiency are required.
- Entrants agree to grant their image rights to the federation without compensation.
- Participants cannot compete in both this event and the Japan Open Masters Championship held on the same day.
Scoring and Awards
- Points are assigned to the top eight finishers in each event (1st place: 9 points, 2nd place: 7 points, etc.).
- The total points from male and female participants determine the overall university rankings.
- Winners of individual events and the overall champion university will receive certificates.
Registration and Fees
- Deadlines: Registration and fees must be completed by February 16, 2025.
- Costs:
- Individual events: ¥2,000 per event.
- Relay events: ¥3,000 per team.
- Team registration: ¥2,500 per university.
