4th Nikitiria Finswimming Competition – A Celebration of Speed and Skill - Finswimmer Magazine

The Gymnastics Club of Volos “NIKI” is proud to announce the 4th Nikitiria Finswimming Competition, set to take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Hosted at the Municipal Swimming Pool of New Ionia “Vasilis Polimeros” in Volos, Greece, this event is a cornerstone for the 2024-2025 season, bringing together athletes from across the country under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation and the Regional Committee of Thessaly.

Event Highlights

The Nikitiria Competition, now in its fourth edition, aims to showcase excellence in finswimming. The venue, a state-of-the-art facility with a 50-meter, 8-lane pool and seating for 1,500 spectators, ensures an optimal environment for both competitors and fans. With water maintained at 26.5°C, the competition guarantees a professional-grade experience for all participants.

The event will feature electronic timing to ensure precise results, adhering to the official regulations of the Hellenic Swimming Federation. Open final heats will determine rankings, categorized according to the Federation’s classification.

Participant Details

Swimmers registered with clubs under the Hellenic Swimming Federation and holding valid sports recognition from the General Secretariat of Sports are eligible. Each swimmer can compete in up to three individual events, with an entry fee of €15 per athlete. Clubs must submit entries by December 31, 2024, to secure participation.

Awards and Recognition

The competition promises a rewarding experience for its participants. Medals and diplomas will be awarded to the top three athletes in each category. Additionally, a special cup will be presented to the best male and female swimmers in the OPEN category, determined by CMAS international scoring. Monetary rewards will also be granted for new national record achievements.

Schedule

The event will begin with a warm-up session from 12:00 to 13:00, followed by the official races starting at 13:15. A technical meeting will be held at 12:30 on the day of the event to finalize details.
