Finswimming and underwater sports have a great tradition in Russia. In 1958 the first finswimming Soviet competition was held and it was the country where the monofin was created and implemented in the 60s.

The Russian Underwater Federation (RUF) has published its 2019 calendar, which includes finswimming competitions in different regions, for categories from kids to masters, as well as events of other modalities such as aquathlon (underwater fight) and scuba diving competitions in pool.

One of the most anticipated events each year is the Snow Fins competition in the Tomsk region that runs from January 30 to February 4, 2019
