XXVIII Siberian Cup in Finswimming Held in Krasnoyarsk in Honor of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
From April 17 to 20, 2024, the city of Krasnoyarsk hosted the 28th Siberian Cup in Underwater Sports (Finswimming) at the 50-meter indoor pool of the Siberian State University of Science and Technology (SibSU). This year’s edition held a special significance, as it was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, commemorating a pivotal moment in Russian history.
The competition brought together athletes from various regions of Siberia and beyond, offering races across multiple finswimming disciplines and distances. Organized in accordance with the Russian Federation’s official calendar, the event aimed not only to promote excellence in underwater sports but also to honor the legacy and heroism of those who contributed to the victory in 1945.
Competition Details
The event followed CMAS rules for finswimming and included the following race formats:
- Surface finswimming (SF)
- Apnea (AP)
- Immersion (IM)
- Bi-fins (BF)
Athletes competed in age groups ranging from youth categories (2014–2015) to adults, including masters. The competition served as a qualifying opportunity for national-level events and contributed to regional rankings.
Age Categories:
- Boys/Girls: 2014–2015, 2012–2013, 2010–2011, 2008–2009
- Juniors: 2006–2007
- Seniors: 2005 and older
- Masters: 30 years and older
