From January 20 to 24, 2025, Chelyabinsk will host the All-Russian Underwater Sports Championships, spotlighting disciplines like finswimming, classical finswimming, underwater swimming, and distance apnea. This prestigious event, officially listed in the Russian Ministry of Sport’s 2025 calendar, aims to identify and prepare top talents for international competitions.
Participants include junior athletes aged 12-17, divided into categories: boys and girls (12-13) and juniors (14-17). The competition will be held at the “Stroitel” swimming pool, a 50-meter facility equipped with electronic timing systems. Athletes will compete in individual and mixed team events across various distances, with a focus on precision, endurance, and speed.
The Russian Underwater Sports Federation (RUF) is leading the organization, in collaboration with local and regional sports authorities. Safety is a top priority, with measures ensuring the well-being of participants and spectators. Comprehensive medical coverage, adherence to anti-doping rules, and compliance with national sports regulations underscore the event’s integrity.
The program includes individual and relay races, fostering a spirit of teamwork. Participants are required to meet strict eligibility criteria, including medical clearance and registration with the RUF database. Highlights include the 50m and 800m finswimming events and the mixed 4x100m relay.
Winners will receive medals and diplomas, while top regional teams will be awarded cups. The event also supports youth development, offering a platform for promising athletes to gain exposure and experience.
Chelyabinsk promises an exciting start to the underwater sports calendar in 2025, bringing together athletes, coaches, and fans to celebrate excellence in a dynamic and rapidly growing sport.
