From February 4 to 7, 2025, the city of Biysk in the Altai region hosted the annual Championship and Championship of the Underwater Sports Federation of Altai Krai. The competition took place in the 50-meter “Zarya” swimming pool, attracting young and promising athletes from various cities in the region.
The event featured disciplines such as finswimming, classic finswimming, and apnea distance swimming. Despite the absence of an electronic timing system, the competition was highly competitive, showcasing the dedication and skill of the participating athletes.
One of the highlights of the championship was the performance of local young swimmers, particularly in the 100m finswimming categories. In the girls’ 2016-2017 category, Nina Chuy from Biysk secured first place with an impressive time of 1:02.35, followed by Viktoria Paraeva from Gorno-Altaysk with 1:07.85. Among the boys of the same age group, Vyacheslav Parinov from Biysk emerged victorious with a time of 1:05.34.
The older age categories also delivered outstanding performances. In the 2014-2015 girls’ 100m finswimming event, Eva Adamova from Kiselevsk took first place, clocking in at 0:53.40, while Semen Shleinik from Biysk dominated the boys’ race in the same age group with a time of 0:52.45.
The event underscored the strength of the Biysk-based “Dolphin” Sports School, whose athletes claimed multiple podium positions across various age groups. Coaches played a crucial role in guiding their young swimmers to achieve remarkable results.
Overall, the Championship and Championship of the Underwater Sports Federation of Altai Krai served as a platform for young finswimmers to demonstrate their abilities and gain valuable competition experience. The event reaffirmed the region’s dedication to the development of underwater sports and the nurturing of future champions.
