From February 26 to March 1, 2025, the Championship of Krasnoyarsk Region in Underwater Sports (Finswimming) took place at the DVS SibSU 50m pool in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The competition was open to boys and girls born between 2008 and 2011, bringing together some of the region’s most promising young finswimmers. The event was organized by the Federation of Underwater Sports of Krasnoyarsk Region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports of Krasnoyarsk Region and the Regional Center for Sports Training.
A Highly Competitive Event
The championship featured a wide range of finswimming disciplines, including surface swimming (SF), immersion (IM), and classic fins (BF). Over 200 athletes from 12 teams participated, representing some of the strongest finswimming clubs in the region, such as:
• “Дианема” (Dianema)
• “Спутник-Авангард” (Sputnik-Avangard)
• “КСШ” (Krasnoyarsk Sports School)
• “ДВС СибГУ” (DVS SibSU)
• “Дельфин” (Delfin)
• “Катран” (Katran)
Outstanding Performances and Results
The team competition was dominated by Dianema, which won the overall ranking with 17 gold, 6 silver, and 11 bronze medals, followed by Sputnik-Avangard with 7 golds and Krasnoyarsk Sports School (KSS) with 4 silvers and 4 bronzes.
Some of the standout individual performances included:
• Miroslava Ionazenko (Dianema, 2011) – Gold in the 100m surface finswimming (SF)
• Maxim Kovalenok (Dianema, 2008) – Gold in the 100m SF and 100m BF
• Tatiana Zhukova (Avangard, 2011) – Gold in the 100m classic fins (BF)
• Matvey Shtark (Delfin, 2008) – Gold in the 100m BF
Other young athletes from Sputnik-Avangard, DVS SibSU, and KSS also had notable podium finishes, showcasing the depth of talent in the region.
Organization and Officials
The championship was officiated by a highly qualified team, led by Chief Judge Fedor Babayev and Chief Secretary Alexey Aldaev, both experienced referees in Russian finswimming. The event maintained high standards of fair play and sportsmanship, ensuring smooth competition across all age groups.

The success of this championship highlights the growing strength of finswimming in the Krasnoyarsk region. Many of these young athletes are expected to compete in national and international events, aiming for selection in future Russian championships and CMAS competitions.
With an increasing level of performance, strong club structures, and dedicated coaching, finswimming in Krasnoyarsk continues to thrive, making it an important hub for the sport in Russia.
