From February 27 to 28, 2025, the village of Pervomaysky in the Tula region hosted the Championship of the Tula Region in Underwater Sports (Finswimming). The competition took place at the DS “Yubileiny” 25-meter pool, bringing together junior athletes born between 2008 and 2011. The event showcased impressive performances from young finswimmers representing various clubs and training under experienced coaches.
Strong Performances in the Junior Girls’ Category
In the junior girls’ division, Sofia Tregubova (2008) delivered an exceptional performance, securing first place with a time of 00:48.90, achieving the Candidate for Master of Sport (CMS) rank. She was followed by Ustinya Dyatlova (2008), who finished in 00:50.97, also earning the CMS rank. The podium was completed by Darya Bunakova (2009) with a time of 00:51.31.
Other notable finishes included Viktoria Lomakina (2009) – 00:51.71 and Anastasia Volodina (2009) – 00:51.78, both achieving CMS ranks. Yulia Volkova (2010) and Sofia Ilyina (2011) also demonstrated strong efforts, securing sixth and seventh places, respectively.
Exciting Races in the Junior Boys’ Division
Among the junior boys, Kirill Ponkratov (2008) dominated the competition, claiming gold with a time of 00:42.84, achieving the CMS level. He was followed by Grigory Dudchenko (2009), who clocked 00:45.94, while Denis Bobkov (2009) secured third place with a time of 00:46.56.
The competition remained fierce, with Oleg Rogatkin (2009) finishing in 00:47.09, earning a First-Class ranking, and Egor Batalkin (2009) finishing just behind at 00:47.12. Several other competitors recorded times under 50 seconds, indicating the high level of the event.
Long-Distance Events and Relay Races
The competition also featured longer distances, including the 800m finswimming event, where Maxim Lozhenko (2008) won gold in the boys’ category with a time of 7:02.81, while Anastasia Terekhova (2008) led the girls’ race, finishing in 7:33.93.
Relay races brought additional excitement, with mixed 4x50m and 4x100m relays witnessing intense battles between teams. The fastest 4x100m relay team, led by Ponkratov, Lomakina, Dudchenko, and Bunakova, secured victory with a time of 3:11.47.

The Tula Regional Finswimming Championship proved to be a highly competitive event, showcasing the incredible talent of young finswimmers. With strong performances across multiple distances, the athletes demonstrated dedication, skill, and promising potential for future competitions.
