There are few news about certified by CMAS monofins and swimsuits. The first information is regarding the monofin sticker that is needed to homologate eventual top level performances, whereas the second talks about one of the CMAS homologated swimsuit reseller/distributor that has been “replaced”.
The Underwater Confederation posted this letter on his web site some days ago:
Dear Mr. President,
As we are at the beginning of the new season and the CMAS competitions are starting very soon we would like to inform you about two main issues.
-Monofin Stickers:
According to CMAS Rules in force as from January 1st 2021 paragraph 2.5 point 2.5.1.4, and after several information letters & technical notices to National Federations, we would like to inform you that all monofins need certification by CMAS (see 11.7). The technical requirements to certify Monofins are in appendix 1 of the contract signed with Monofins producers. Certified fins obligatory for:
• Participation in CMAS championships, World Cup and international competitions
• Certification for any records with Monofins
On each Monofin, the CMAS sticker provided to the manufacturers must be stuck on the blade before selling. Thus, the homologation of the Monofin is certified. Manufacturers make sure the sticker is properly glued to the top of the blade and use glue that allows the sticker not to peel off over time and use the material.
The cost of each sticker is 20€ and the manufacturer must not sell it but provide to the athletes. I would like to highlight that this certification procedure is in force from three full years now.
After several extensions granted as a transitional period, it is now time for all members concerned to comply with the above regulation. For this reason:
-A penalty fine of 100 Euro per sticker will be applied to the purchase price of the stickers from SportData.
-The price of supply of stickers from CMAS to manufacturers remains 20 Euros.
-In cases where a complaint is made to CMAS with evidence that:
– A Manufacturer sold a monofin without a sticker
– A Manufacturer charged athletes extra money for applying stickers at the same time CMAS will terminate the cooperation and will denounce the company for violation of the terms of the contract.
– JAKED Swimsuits:
As you have already been informed, by letter from CMAS dated 4th of January 2024 the contract signed between the CMAS and the company BAT, the distributor of the CMAS Jaked Swimsuits, ended on December 31st, 2023. CMAS signed an exclusive contract with the company “Diamand distribution”, based in Milan. From January 1st, 2024, it’s only allowed to buy the Jaked swimsuits from the new distributor.
The new suits will have QR code. You can find the catalogue and official list of retail prices and special prices for regional
distributors and National Federations. For additional discount you can contact Diamant Distribution directly.
