Today I wanna discuss about the costs that Finswimming has for an athlete. I think it’s becoming much more expensive year by year. So let’s take for example a top level Finswimmer who lives in Italy (at the moment I have just this point of view), so one who usually takes part to the main National and International competitions (Italian Champs, CMAS WC, Europeans…).
Usually the sport season starts in September/October and ends about in July/August. So we have 11 months (just to reserve a month for vacations). We can suppose that every month the “fee” to be in a Club is about 30 Euros : 330 Euros. Probably this covers, over the swimming pool price, only the costs of inscriptions to races.
And about trainings? At least a simple monofin per year and almost one or two bifins are necessary. So we’ll have about 130 Euros and 50 Euros: 180 Euros.
For the competitions we need a special monofin instead, that could cost about 380 Euros. Maybe we won’t change it every year, but it’s almost sure. So maybe we could spend an average of 450 Euros per year.
Now we can add the swimsuit, two simple models every year (50 Euros) and probably each of us should have a CMAS Homologated one. So if we go to check the price of one of it we get 269 Euros plus the delivery 5 Euros: 325 Euros.
So at last: 330 + 180 + 450 + 325 = 1285 Euros
Oh I was forgetting…now whats hould we add? Snorkels, goggles, socks, caps, bags, tracksuit, etc etc etc…and more hotel during competitions, travels, etc etc etc… It is starting to become a sport for rich people 🙂
And you? What are you annual costs for the Finswimming?
