The National Indonesia Finswimming Championship was held again, which is on 15-17 November 2024. The confirmed event was attended by 932 athletes from 60 cities/county and 12 provinces, making it one of the largest finswimming competitions in Indonesia.
The Chairman of the Provincial Board (Pengprov) of POSSI East Java, Mirza Muttaqien, revealed that the number of Kejurnas participants this year experienced a significant surge, making it a finswimming event with the most number of athletes ever recorded in Indonesia.
Mirza added, this increase in participants is a testApment to the high public interest in the sport of finswimming, especially in East Java, and at the same time make the Governor’s Cup of East Java 2024 as a barometer for the General Manager (PB) POSSI in developing this sport at the national level.
“Looking at the number of participants, we can see how much enthusiasm for finswimming, and this is certainly an important place to measure the development of this sport in the country,” Mirza explained.

M. Nabil, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of East Java, expressed his appreciation for the progress of the sport of quintedism in this province. According to him, yanswimming has become an extraordinary tradition and must continue to be maintained. “The fans of finswimming in East Java are amazing, and we hope this sport can be maintained in PON 2028,” he said.
Nabil also emphasized that finswimming provides a great opportunity for athletes to maintain achievement while patted the way for young athletes to develop at the national level.
As a sport of superior sports in East Java, finswimming continues to show significant progress. The Governor’s Cup Championship has further confirmed the position of yanswimming as a sport with many enthusiasts and achievements, and is increasingly relevant to the national calendar agenda of PB POSSI.
The Head of Sports and Performance of the East Java Youth and Sports Service (Dispora), Abdul Wahab, also underlined the importance of support for this sport. “Finswimming is one of the leading sports in East Java, and we from the East Java Provincial Government will continue to fully support the development and achievements of finswimming,” concluded Abdul Wahab.
