The finswimming community has received surprising and bittersweet news: Tim Willruth, affectionately known as “Mr. Finswimming Statistics,” has announced he is stepping down from collecting and preparing finswimming statistics. This decision marks the end of an era for enthusiasts and professionals who have relied on his meticulous work for years.
Tim Willruth’s contributions to the sport have been nothing short of remarkable. His dedication to tracking results, compiling rankings, and maintaining detailed statistics has provided the community with an invaluable resource. Through his work, athletes, coaches, and fans gained a deeper understanding of finswimming’s global progress and achievements.
Tim revealed the reasons behind his decision. A lack of time has made it increasingly challenging for him to continue his voluntary efforts. Balancing professional and personal commitments alongside the demanding task of compiling statistics has proven unsustainable.
“It’s not an easy decision,” Tim admitted. “Finswimming has been a significant part of my life, and I’ve loved contributing to the sport. But there comes a time when you have to prioritize other aspects of life.”
The community will undoubtedly feel the absence of his updates, but Tim remains hopeful that the next generation will continue to value and support finswimming’s growth. “I may be stepping away from the statistics, but my love for finswimming will never fade,” he said.
