The 8th “Trofeo Titano” Finswimming competition, organized by DOMUS SAN MARINO NUOTO PINNATO, took place on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Multieventi swimming facility in Serravalle, San Marino. This event, governed by FIPSAS (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities) and local regulations, welcomes various age groups and categories, including youth (Esordienti), competitive (Agonistic), and Master divisions.
Event Categories and Distances
The competition included individual and relay events across several categories:
- Esordienti (Youth) – B1, B2, A1, A2 divisions participate in 50m and 100m finswimming events, as well as a mixed 4x50m relay.
- Competitive (Agonistic) – Events for this category cover 50m, 100m, and 200m distances for both fins and monofin, with a combined race for 400m fins and monofin swimmers.
- Master Swimmers – Divided by age, with events in 50m, 100m, and 200m fins races. Notable categories include M40 (athletes born until 1985) and M+40 (athletes born before 1984).
The competition also featured a special event called “Titanica”. This unique challenge involves the top eight male and female athletes from the best-ranked teams competing in an elimination-style 50m fins race. The top two finalists will face off for victory, with winners awarded a basket of local products valued at €50.
Schedule and Entry Requirements
The competition began with facility access at 8:10 a.m., followed by gender-specific warm-ups, and an opening ceremony. The morning session includes events such as 100m finswimming for masters and youth, as well as 200m fins races. Mixed relay events for different age groups will also be held. After a break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., afternoon events resume with races in apnea, 50m fins, and monofin distances, leading to the Titanica finals around 5:00 p.m.
Registration and Fees
Athletes must register through the FIPSAS form by November 2, 2024, with a participation fee of €4 per event and €15 per relay team. Late registration incurs a €50 surcharge. All athletes are required to hold a current sports medical certification.
Awards and Scoring
Awards include medals for the top five youth competitors and the top three in other categories. Team rankings are based on cumulative scores, with a trophy awarded to the top team. For clarity, an information desk and assistance will be available throughout the event.
